Brief History of B-S Steel

In
March, 1983, Azcon Steel Company made the announcement to withdraw from
the metal distribution market. In Kansas City the decision was to
close the Azcon Steel Company, (Brown-Strauss Division) warehouse
facility at 14th and Osage, Kansas City, Kansas. |

Upon the closing of
the warehouse of Azcon Steel, three senior Azcon employees formulated
plans for a new company to serve as a distributor of carbon steel
products in the Midwest. |

The new company, B-S
Steel of Kansas, Inc. began business on June 16th, 1983 and moved to a
new office and warehouse at 830 Kindelberger Road in the Fairfax
District of Kansas City, Kansas , on August 1st, 1983. Many former
key warehouse and sales personnel of Azcon Steel joined the newly formed
company and represent a combined total of over 100 years experience in
the steel industry. B-S Steel of Kansas moved into their current
office at 802 Kindelberger in 1990. |
